Thanks for the photo Patrick - the display looks superb.
Sorry I couldn't make it to the fair, but I'd be eager to hear how it went, particularly given the "temporary" nature of the setup.
Any good bargains or specials found ?
Cheers |

Excellent presentation by all those involved. Seeing these earlier pieces in living colour brings a new light upon the subject. Thank you. |

I bought a walking stick in sanctury blue and white enamel, that Ray made in 1977 for Dennis Waters the glasshouse manager. I spoke to him about provenance , Shortly after he rang me back and said he had a picture of himself holding the walking stick up, in the factory, just after he made it. There were only about 5 made.
Also Patrick bought a beautiful very large Butler bowl in a blue and white cloudy streaky colourway, after Ray said it was one of the best he had ever seen.
We will put some pictures on as soon as possible.
Terry

| And here am I in Egypt buying coloured sand in trailed glass bottles. Cheap at least but indeed the display looks fantastic. Well done all and thanks to all the contributors. |

I see in one of the photos a Shallow Roman cut decanter in sky blue - never knew this existed as I've only seen a couple of wine / liqueur glasses in sky blue before. Who owns this ? (and congrats to whoever it is for a lovely find)
Also some lovely 30's deco designs in sapphire that I've never seen before, and the shallow bowl on the top shelf in emerald - all beautiful
Cheers |

Apart from the 'Comet' vase (extreme left on the lower shelf display) I'm not sure that here are any official names for these pieces. When they were used for an exhibition atThe National Glass Fair when it moved back to the Motor Cycle Museum some names were used, but they were given by the owner.

I should have known Nigel.
If you actually sold some of the amazing stuff you're "saving for a rainy day" we could double our collections !!

It's the supreme problem of starting a dealing career having been a collector for ten years or so ........ but I do share 'em
Trouble is, the pieces that I 'look after' give me a great deal of pleasure
Nigel
PS. I'm sure you'll be pleased to know that pieces do escape the net occasionally _________________ www.20thcentury-glass.org.uk |
